Jaisalmer

India's largest district by area before the 2023 reorganisation, dominated by the Thar Desert and the Sam and Khuri sand dunes. Home to the 12th-century Jaisalmer Fort ('Sonar Quila'), a living fort still inhabited within its walls, and the carved Patwon-ki-Haveli merchant mansions; near the India-Pakistan border, with a growing wind and solar power industry alongside desert tourism.
