Carved out of Udaipur district on 7 August 2023 from the Sarada, Lasadiya, Salumbar, Semari and Jhallara tehsils. It lies in southern Rajasthan's tribal belt near the Gujarat border, with a Scheduled TribeA constitutionally recognized group of indigenous communities in India entitled to specific affirmative-action protections. population making up roughly 63% of residents, and includes part of the Jaisamand Wildlife Sanctuary around Asia's second-largest artificial lake.
