Split off from Bharatpur district on 7 August 2023 and included in the National Capital Region. Deeg town was the original 18th-century capital of the Jat rulers of Bharatpur, renowned for Deeg Palace's Charbagh-style gardens and twin water tanks, Gopal Sagar and Rup Sagar, built as a summer retreat for the royal family.
