Population 2,731,929 (2011) across roughly 247-250 km², a density of about 10,935-11,060/km²; literacy 86.57% (male ~91.7%, female ~80.6%); sex ratioThe number of females per 1,000 males in a population — a key demographic indicator in Indian census data. 862; 78.8% Hindu, 16.3% Muslim, 2.5% Sikh. Contains three of Delhi's seven historic capital cities (Qila Rai Pithora, Mehrauli, and Siri), plus the Qutub Minar (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), Mehrauli Archaeological Park, IIT Delhi, AIIMS, and roughly 20% green cover including the Asola Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary. Considered Delhi's most affluent residential belt outside Lutyens' Delhi, anchored by the Hauz Khas, Greater Kailash, and Saket commercial hubs. Served by the Yellow and Magenta Lines. Unaffected by the January 2026 reorganisation.
