One of three brand-new districts created in Delhi's 1 January 2026 revenue reorganisation (11 districts became 13, aligning revenue boundaries with the city's municipal zones under the "One Delhi, One Boundary" plan). Formed by combining the Shakur Basti and Shalimar Bagh areas (previously part of North West Delhi) with Model Town (previously part of North Delhi). No population or area figure exists yet for this exact boundary — the next Census is expected around 2027 — so the old districts' 2011 figures should not be quoted as Central North's own. Contains the Mughal-era Shalimar Bagh gardens, the Shakur Basti rail yard and its surrounding industrial-residential belt, and the planned 1950s colony of Model Town. Served by the Pink Line (Shalimar Bagh, Shakurpur) with the Yellow Line (Model Town, Adarsh Nagar, GTB Nagar) and Red Line (Netaji Subhash Place, Pitampura) running nearby.
