Hailakandi

Assam's southernmost district, part of the culturally distinct, Bengali-speaking Barak Valley and bordering both Bangladesh and Tripura. Predominantly agricultural, with tea gardens, betel-nut cultivation and bamboo/cane craft forming the core of the local economy alongside rice farming in the Barak floodplain.
